Xiang Qibo and Liu Yulian (eds.)

An illustrated monograph of the sweet Osmanthus cultivars in China. 2008. illus. 400 p. gr8vo. Hardcover. - Bilingual (Chinese / English).
This book is an authoritative monograph on the cultivar classification of Osmanthus fragrans, the first of its kind on this very popular species. During the last two decades Prof. Xiang and his colleagues have been deeply involved in studying the many cultivars of Osmanthus fragrans, a species that has a very long tradition of cultivation in China. Based on the principles of International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) and the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ISBN), Prof. Xiang and his team have conducted systematic and comprehensive surveys of Osmanthus fragrans cultivars throughout China, and have reclassified scientifically and standardized the old cultivars of Osmanthus fragrans in China. Some new cultivars have also been recorded and named. The number of Osmanthus fragrans of cultivars described has increased during this research program from around 40 to over 160. This comprehensive monograph includes over 120 carefully selected, high quality photographs of Osmanthus fragrans cultivars.
