In this handbook, the authors - most of whom are lecturers at Galician universities - have joined forces to produce a coherent text on botany practicals, covering both the analysis of different systematic groups – in the laboratory practicals section - and the application of botanical knowledge to the assessment of the environment or landscape diversity – in the field practicals section. Lecturers will find here materials for practical sessions in Botany and related subjects, presented using readily available specimens that cover a wide range of botanical diversity, and incorporating fieldwork in its most traditional form with a practical focus. As for the students, the guide aims to involve them directly, making them the true protagonists, as they are the ones who must carry out the proposed exercises, whilst also using their contact with plants to revisit the conceptual aspects and descriptions covered in lectures; to this end, questions are posed at the end of each practical session to stimulate their critical thinking skills.
