Vegegraphy of China, Volume 7, Issue 4: Schima Superba Forest. China's evergreen broad-leaved forests are globally representative zonal vegetation types. Among them, the Schima Superba forest is one of the dominant subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest groups in China, and also a type with typical subtropical vegetation structure, geographically distributed throughout the entire subtropical region of China. Based on an overview of Schima Superba forests globally and in China, this volume, using 137 quadrats as evidence, proposes a new classification system for Schima Superba forests in China, including 7 communities, 17 community groups, and 56 communities. It systematically describes the geographical distribution, natural environment, ecological characteristics, community species composition, structure and type, biological characteristics of dominant species, biomass and productivity, vegetation dynamics and succession, and value and conservation of each vegetation taxonomic unit.
