Pollen types and pollen diagrams of Holocene sediments from the Amazonvalley and an number of Amazonian lakes are described, and an attempt ismade to interprete these diagrams with the aid of data on the recentstands of vegetation and ecology and on the recent pollen rain andpollen deposition in the area. A total of 120 pollen and spore typesis recognized.
