Presents a new and multidisciplinary approach of crop history. Thetwo main components of the study concern the various aspects of thedistribution of plantain (Musa spp. AAB) diversity and the scientificas well as ethnobotanical classification and nomenclature of the cropand its cultivrs. The outcomes of these components are combined withhistorical, cultural, ecological, agronomical and economical informationand integrated into a theory about the introduction, spread anddiversification of plantain in the African continent.
