This work based on an extensive collection of samples made from most of the districts of Tamil Nadu, is an attempt to fill a gap to help students and research scholars interested in Desmids diversity of Tamil Nadu. This is a collection of 208 photomicrographs of Desmids of the genera such as Euastrum, Micrasterias and Staurodesmus, with the name of the district and the habitats from which the samples were collected.This part includes 37 taxa of Euastrum, 12 taxa of Micrastenas and 11 of Staurodesmus. The images of remaining genera of desmids of Tamil Nadu will be published in Part-2 shortly, which would include a general write up of Desmids, their habitats, key for their identification and descriptions.
