This is the first publication of 57 original watercolours of Magnus, Wilhelm and Ferdinand von Wright, considered top artists in Northern Europe at their time. The originals disappeard in 1849 among herbarium sheets of the nordic herbarium of the natural history museum at Stockholm. It took over 100 years till discovery of these water colours by Bertil Nordenstam. The plates were orginally designed to be published in the iconography 'Svensk botanik (1802 - 1843)'.
