Chorose Evropy sbirkach Muzea Vysociny Jihlava (Poroid fungi (Polyporales lL.) of Europe in the collections of Muzeum Vysociny Jihlava. 2021.506 col. photogr. 728 p. 4to. Hardcover.- In Czech.

Mushrooms poroid hymenophores, known as (Polyporales s. l.), form a small, but still very interesting group in the fungal kingdom of the so-called large fungi (macromycetes). Only a little over four hundred species are known in Europe, but their correct differentiation is one of the most demanding disciplines in mycology. The authors have clearly compiled a list of all herbarium items of chorosh stored in the collections of the Museum of the Highlands in Jihlava, which should thus serve as a database for researchers and polyporology specialists. The basis of the collection is mainly the first author's (P.V.) own collections not only from the area of ??the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, but also from other regions in the territory of the former Czechoslovakia. In many cases, these are the first finds of rare species in this area, and the most valuable items include type material of newly described species. To a lesser extent, the collection also includes Chorosses from other European countries.

Although the authors modestly consider their work only a catalog of herbarium items, their brief comments on individual species also bring a number of new and previously unpublished findings. In addition, information on the shape and size of the spores is given for all included species, which is one of the most important microscopic diagnostic features. For most species, a color photo of either fresh fruiting bodies or dried fruits is also added. A detailed list of cited mycological literature makes it easy to search for additional information. The attached index of all the Latin names of mushrooms mentioned in the book will facilitate orientation when searching for certain species, and the terminological dictionary explains all the technical terms used in the book. This "catalogue" is not only an extensive herbarium database, but in fact it can also be a very good aid in determining the species of choroses growing in Europe.
