The aim of this book is to provide readers with the keys they need to easily recognise 180 species of flora native and endemic to our island. This book will also give you a sneak preview of the updated conservation status of the taxa presented. The official red list will be published later in 2024.

Recently, with the help of the naturalist network, natural environment managers and scientists who are experts in Réunion's vascular flora, the authors updated the reference list for the flora, drawn up according to the methodology applied throughout the world under the aegis of the International Union for Conservation of Nature - IUCN: the famous red list, a diagnosis of the state of conservation of the flora and the threats to which it is exposed.

With the support of a young association with a passion for botany, ‘Sur les traces de Thérésien CADET’ (In the footsteps of Thérésien CADET) and the backing of the University of La Réunion, the authors set about writing the first volume of Native Plants of La Réunion.
